Big reduction in number of Dutch pirate stations

The Netherlands Radiocommunications Agency says that increased efforts to close down the country’s pirate radio stations have resulted in a big reduction in the number of active pirates. Nationally, the number of pirates has been reduced by 62 percent. Last year there were 347 raids on pirate stations, and 386 penalty payments were imposed. An agency spokesperson says that there are not many problems now in the west of the country. But in the less densely populated north and east, there’s still a hard core of active pirates.
