Malaysia’s first and only news radio station, Bernama Radio24, celebrated its first anniversary on a quiet note today, minus the fanfare. “As it is the fasting month, we decided to push back the celebration until after the Aidilfitri holidays, we are just doing a low-key celebration,” said Chief Operating Officer Sheikh Raffie Rahman.
Speaking to Bernama, he said that although the station was a year old, there was still a lot to be done. “We are constantly working on exploring ways to generate business and listeners especially in strengthening and diversifying our content in order to consolidate our image as a credible and responsible media platform,” he said.
Besides providing the latest news, the station would continue to strengthen efforts in providing the public with more opportunities and a wider platform to air their views on issues of interest and subjects close to their hearts, he added.
“Bernama24 is already making small waves through interactive programmes like Suara Anda (Your Voice) which airs from 7am to 7 pm, breaking news, hourly news bulletins and regular updates in Top 5 News,” he said.
Radio24, run by the Malaysian National News Agency, Bernama through its subsidiary Digital Media Broadcasting Services Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Bernama Systems and Solution Advisor (BESSAR), first hit the airwaves at 6am on 3 September last year. Apart from being broadcast terrestrially on 93.9 FM, Bernama Radio24 is also available via live audio streaming on www.radio24.com.my.
