AIR Khampur testing DRM to Europe on 9950 kHz

All India Radio is continuing its shortwave DRM tests. All this week, tests are being made from the Khampur (Delhi) transmitter site as follows:

Frequency: 9950 kHz
UTC: 1945 - 2230
Target: Europe

    Superquality Stereo 19kbs. 25.11.08 20.00UTC
    I receice HPT AIR KHAMPUR S9+20dB over 9 with my
    Receiver Yaesu FRG100 an a longwire Antenna.
    The signal is very stabil the BF has a little bit of 50Hz noise.

    Listening now to All India Radio on 9950 khz in DRM using Morphy Richards 27024 with the receiver’s whip antenna. Has been no audio breaks since 2200 tune in

    19:00 local time, good reception, 11.56 Kbits mono using a Kenwood R5000 with a piece of wire abt 2 meter long hung up in the room. SNR 14.5 Db. After abt 19:10 stron 50 Hz and poor modulation (lady talking).

    Very nice Signal, S9+30dB.
    SNR FAC 22 dB
    SNR MSC 23 dB
    Excellent Audio Quality, very less drop outs.

    My equipment: 10 meter longwire, HCJB Pappradio SDR reciever. SoDiRa software for decoding.

    I like the music very much

    Yesterday,28-Sept 2011, there was an analogue signal on 9950. so I suspected the end of the DRM test. But the QRG is back on digital today.

    Local time 3.10am, 3-Oct-2011, DRM freq 9950khz, radio Winradio WR-303i. SNR 11db on 30 feet long wire. Excellent audio quality, some audio breaks, perhaps my setup.

    I’m listening at 1900 utc at the moment, using a Flexradio Flex-1500 and Dream 1.6.1cvs on the computer. SNR ~20 dB, but the decoded audio has terrific hum on it, louder than the newsreader. The hum was also there during the music before 1900. Maybe due to an earth loop somewhere?
