On Thursday 1 January there will be a day of special programmes to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the start of the original Radio Mi Amigo, which broadcast from the radio ship of the same name shared with Radio Caroline. From 0900-2100 UTC there will be 12 hours of programmes featuring many of the original DJs. The lineup is as follows:

0900-1000 UTC Sylvain Tack memorial [He was the man who set up Radio Mi Amigo]
1000-1100 UTC Joop Verhoof memorial [fragments of the late Joop Verhoof's programmes with contributions from colleagues and friends]
1100-1200 UTC The first hour of Radio Mi Amigo  in studio quality as broadcast in 1974
1200-1300 UTC Bert Bennett
1300-1400 UTC Will van der Steen
1400-1500 UTC Norbert
1500-1600 UTC Frans van der Drift
1600-1700 UTC Ad Petersen
1700-1800 UTC Peter van Dam
1800-1900 UTC Eddy Govert

The evening programmes will be especially interesting to English-speaking listeners and jingle collectors.  From 1800-2100 UTC, programming will focus on the Mi Amigo jingles and commercials, including an extended interview with the composer of the famous Mi Amigo theme tune. Steve England will talk about his Sonovox jingles, and his adventures in offshore radio. Andy Archer, whose programme closes the special 12-hour event, was the first official programme director of Radio Mi Amigo.

It’s all happening on the Radio Mi Amigo website

    Hi Guys
Just found you. I have around 3 years worth of programmes which I recorded from Radio Miamigo from 1974 to 1978 most are of good quality despite their age. I have Peter van Damn when he broadcast live van op de Mi-Amigo, loads of Joop ver Hoop Bert Bennett and many more. Just fantastic you have made a 55 years old man very happy. I am now off to get drunk. Once again thank you.
