Help in the form of volunteers and troops, but also financial support came from The Netherlands and the neighbouring countries.
In most polders the dikes could be restored quickly. With old techniques (extra ditches) and with new (chemical additions) the farmers got the land ploughed again for a new crop in 1954. Except on Duiveland. Report from Nieuwekerk.
