Media Network : History of jingles / 1996-02-29/

Special about the History of the jingle. In The Netherlands is (in 1996 and 2007) a jingles society “Genootschap Radiojingles and -Tunes”. History starts in USA. There was a jingle company PAMS. Only in the early sixties Europe started with jingles as commercial radio started, at first in Sweden. Radio Caroline started with very simple jingles, but then Radio London came with jingles bought in the USA.
In The Netherlands Frans Meits ? composed purpose made jingles for Radio Veronica. Illegally Veronica also used reworked material from the USA. Felix Meurders used a stolen American jingle for the NOS. NCRV ordered the first officially produced jingles in the USA.
In the programme jingles which were never used are played. Plus a promo from the Dutch company Top Format in different languages.
Mike Birds propagation Report (important for the reception of short wave radio) is closing the special.

Next to the orginal broadcast tape is the montage tape with the interviews.
