Panos Institute in London asked 5 journalist to go the the North as in october 1986 talks will start between the original people and Greenpeace. Greenpeace started a campaign in the seventies againts the cruwl slaying of seals. While hitting the commercial industry very bad the orginal peoples were also hindered in their original way of life.

ISI spokesmen (Indigenous Survival International) states that the emotional reactions of the Europeans on the fur industry needed to be adressed for the survival of the original peoples.
He sets the tone with: the European animal welfare organisations “pursue their fundraising with religious fervour, organised intolerance of the highest orde, the truth doesn’t matter a damn to them … they appeal to peoples emotions and ignorance ”

Lies Vedder of Greenpeace reacts: Canadian Government did not inform the peoples of the North on the exclusion of the way of  hunting  and the lifestayle  of the original peoples.

Billy Day used to be a civil servant, but now he is a hunter again in Whitefish Station. In teh summer season he hunts Beluga wales. The peoples are killing between 80 and 130 Beluga’s per annum. In winter the hunt for kariboe and trapping. They perserve their food in the permafrost.

The Inuit ar etrying to be recognised as conservatist by the United Nations and they are trying to add a chapter to the World Conservation Strategy.
Red Peterson from the Ministry favor’s the idea of such a chapter.
