A very white Christmas : Hibernation on Nova Zembla by Neville Gray / 1972-11-24/
Jacob van Heemskerk and Willem Barentz (cartographer) tried to reach the East via the North Pole in 1596/1597 but got stuck on Nova Zembla during the winter. Gerard de Veer wrote a day by day acoount of the trip and their stay is this very white and very cold environment.
