Report of a journey from Beirut (Lebanon) to Damascus (Syria) by Eddie (Edward) Startz. This voyage is part of a round trip the reporter made for his program Happy Station.
00′09″ Eddie Startz describes his flight to Beirut (Lebanon) and the things he can see from the air: Iraq. the desert and the snow-covered summits.
In Beirut he tells about the traffic, the different religions, the languages and the beautiful beaches, one can compare with the French ‘Rivièra’.
By car he travels to Damascus (Syria), giving a description of the winter sport resorts he passes.
In Damascus he describes the city and the Bazaar, to be compared to the ones of Istanbul (Turkey). He tells about the Ottoman Porte and the famous mosque of Omewada (or Umayyad?), as well as the different Holy places in the city.
Back in Beirut he describes the ruins of Baalbek, which he compares to the Acropolis, and a nightclub with belly dancers.

00:09 Eddie Startz beschrijft hoe hij vliegt naar Beiroet (Libanon) en wat hij ziet vanuit de lucht: Irak, de woestijn en de besneeuwde bergtoppen.
In Beiroet beschrijft hij het verkeer met een hoop getoeter, de verschillende geloven, Islam, Christenen, de talen (Arabisch, Frans en Engels) en de prachtige stranden te vergelijken met de Riviera.
Met een auto reist hij naar Damascus (Syrië) en beschrijft hij de wintersportplaatsen, die hij tegenkomt.
Aangekomen in Damascus beschrijft hij de stad en de Bazaar, die te vergelijken zijn met die van Istanbul (Turkije).
Hij vertelt over het Ottomaanse Rijk en de beroemde Moskee Omewada [of in het Engels Umayyad?] en de verschillende Bijbelse plaatsen in de stad.
Terug in Beiroet beschrijft hij de ruïne van Baalbek te vergelijken met de Acropolis en een nachtclub met buikdanseressen.
