Café Oosterling is the best bar in Amsterdam, it’s number two in the Dutch Hotel Restaurant and Bar Industry’s “Horeca Top 100″, so - on a national level - comes second only to Café De Beyerd in the southern city of Breda.
As long ago as 1735, tea and coffee were being served at Café Oosterling, [...]

This week on Curious Orange (the radio show)…
Are you scared when it comes down to performing?

A fake in the Rijksmuseum?!?!
A fake in the Rijksmuseum! Shocking!
Nope, it’s not a Rembrandt or Van Gogh… it’s a moon rock.
Or rather, it’s a fake moon rock.
According to curators, the rock - which was was given to former Prime Minister Willem Drees during a visit from the Apollo-11 astronauts shortly after their moon mission in 1969 - is nothing [...]
Yup, I did it…
I finally tasted Dutch “nieuwe haring” (new herring).
And it wasn’t half bad.

Continuing with the theme of spring… Seddiq Mossadeq sent this photo to our Dutch “Wereldnet” bloggers… who then passed it on to us - the perfect combination of where we’ve been and were we are now!
Seddiq says, “For two years I’ve grown these tulips in my garden in Kabul. Whether they could also grow in [...]
Dredging Amsterdam’s Canals
Ok. I’ll admit, it’s been a little quiet here on the Curious Orange blog. It’s terrible how life interferes with writing to all our dear and devoted readers, isn’t it?
But I promise we have a good excuse.
Which I will reveal very, very soon.
But in the mean time, I’ve just edited my second ever video! Go [...]
