Ok, when I add this to my canal-muck-dredging video, I know you’ll all think I’m a garbage-gunk-grossness junkie… but today I saw old bicycles being hauled out of one of the canals in Amsterdam… and it was so cool I just had to take some pictures!

See? I wasn't the only one who thought this was cool - even the bike dredging guy stopped to take a photo of their latest haul - a pair of ice skates! I guess they don't see those very often on the bike-dredger...

But Ashleigh, why do the Dutch throw their old bikes in the canals? We sell it off to the cycle shop, who send it for recycling!!!

It’s a good question… I’ve always assumed that the bikes in the canals were more often a result of drunk accidents than purposeful bicycle disposal. Or perhaps vengeful ex-es?? But I could easily be wrong! Maybe Amsterdammers really do think that the canals are the world’s biggest garbage can…
