The flight to Tarin Kowt was mercifully short and smooth - I must say, as a frequent sufferer of airsickness, I really appreciate the speed of ascent and descent of these military planes!
When we arrived, we were again greeted by the Press Officer (Captain Jurgen) who took us to the canteen (known as the D-FAC (pronounced as the letter “D” then “fack”), short for “dining facility”) for a quick lunch… and then to our rooms for some much-needed sleep.
After a little snooze and a shower (almost as much-needed as the sleep!), I took these pictures of our sleeping quarters…
- This is the inside of our "chalet" (basically a bunch of armoured containers attached together and with a roof overhead). This is the door to the press office / Ashleigh's room.
- This is the inside of the press office / Ashleigh's room. All Curious Orange t-shirts are still drying because of the storm on the Mirage base.
And then we did this video of the “town square”…
And then, at dinner, we took this video of the D-FAC…

Nice videos! Thanks Ashleigh and Michel for being so brave, by being in a war zone and recording it for the world. Glad that the army is getting the best food in such conditions…But wonder about the Afghan people!!!!
